Hey y'all, this is such a random topic here but I guess I have to write it down here

Discord has finally been blocked by RKN here in Russia, permanent decision unless they think otherwise. Starting from now, I will only be available on WLM/MSN Messenger, AIM or online forums including this one, those are the only ways of contacting for the time being. RKN and Russia really want their own people to hate them, don't they? :mrgreen:

I had a random though, if Russia is so worried about Discord being an extremist place and allowing things such as LGBTQ, Extremist Groups and such, why not block every single messenger? Wouldn't that make more sense from their point? There will be no way of starting those groups, no teenagers/kids will be harmed and they will not be plagued by the entire "ooh you will be made to do dumb shit ooooh scary!!!!"

Their point doesn't sit well if it targets a single company located in California. If you want to block the messenger for extremist beliefs, propaganda and harmful content, block vKontakte, Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber. Hell, block every messenger, it will be "safer" for everyone and make your point proven.

Recently, I've been pissed about a single thing, and that is region blocking

Many countries and companies, specifically American companies, have taken a strict step to blocking access to anyone from certain regions thanks to the U.S. Trade Restrictions and the EU counterpart as well. They have taken the initiative to block North Korea from accessing its resources to prevent any cyber-attacks and stuff like that, you think that would makes sense since North Korea develops Nuclear Weapons and they use intra-net, right?

What doesn't make sense is if you block innocent people from access your products, not even companies, NORMAL PEOPLE. They have decided to block certain regions like the Russian Federation, Crimean Republic, Afghanistan, Cuba, etc, which means they have went ahead and cut off a large amount of people from accessing their services cause "you have had bad fortune."

They're just basically going the "you live in a place we dont like so we take away some, or, even, all rights from you." approach. Take GitLab for example, they block ANYONE from the Crimean Republic because "you live in a place we don't like" and don't allow them to use ANY type of service they provide, GitHub has blocked the Crimean Republic, Afghanistan and Cuba from accessing some of their services because "you live in a place we dont like, but we will allow you to have SOME kind of rights", it's atrocious.

And no wonder people don't like you all, you companies are acting like assholes :mrgreen:

Yes, it's law, but taking away the right to use the same services that are used by everyone is inhumane. This practice has been going for way too long because we cant agree over small things.

Please just know that these are some rants I have about the entire government bullshit that exists nowadays, so it's just some thoughts that shouldn't be taken like gospel and should be viewed as a POV of a person who has to deal with this bullshit for the past 10 years.

Here's a small thing, Proton and most VPN's dont work, either the company has blocked the use of them in the country or the ISP blocked them, theres no proper solution, this counts as one, yes, but it's so convoluted its not worth doing it

I just gave up and I decided to not bother with it :mrgreen:
